Wisdom Panel Mixed Breed DNA Test Movies - Midwest Area Pit Stop, Inc.
Updated Web Site on this issue coming this fall
Every dog in these videos was called a "pit bull" by an experienced Animal Control Officer or Humane Society Director or experienced staff member. Science is sheding a strong light on the wide spread misidentifcation of "pit bulls" that makes it way into the media and bite statistics. These videos show the dog breeds identified through Wisdom Panel Mixed Breed DNA testing of the featued dog in each video. So far only two dogs had a signifcant amount of American Staffordshire Terrier (aka as one of the 3 breeds of dogs lumped together as "Pit Bulls") in the, now, dozens tested by our organization. That is a percent error of over 90% when you consider the people naming these dogs assumed they were all "pit bull" as newspapers race to do to get headlines about attacks by "pit bulls". Maybe someone should inform the media that we now know, through science, they are likely quoting very unreliable sources when they label "pit bulls" and that this country is tired of being put into a state of fear by the media on a variety of topics without providing insight to build context and rationally informed decisions.
Dozens of test results will be posted over the next few months please check back.
In the Madison Wisconsin area alone several vets are offering the Wisdompanel Mixed Breed DNA Test including the UW-Madison Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital (check the Wisdom Panel link on this page).
